Northern is giving customers new ways to save this half term.

RMT has agreed to suspend its strike action and recommence talks about the future role of the conductor. This follows positive discussions between RMT and Northern - brokered by ACAS Chair, Sir Brendan Barber.

Northern and Direct Rail Services (DRS) recently said goodbye to the Class 37 locomotives in Cumbria with a charity farewell service.

There is ongoing disruption to train services between Newcastle and Carlisle following a collision between a car and a Northern train.

To commemorate the service of the Class 37s on the Cumbrian Coast, Northern and Direct Rail Services (DRS) have commissioned a farewell return journey between Carlisle and Carnforth on Friday 11 January.

Employers, Passenger Groups and elected representatives across the North today gave their support for an independent ACAS Inquiry in a bid to make progress in resolving the RMT dispute.

Northern has formally written to ACAS requesting it to use its powers to establish an independent inquiry into the issues at the heart of RMT’s ongoing dispute with the train operator.

In the run up to Christmas, Northern has been providing support to party goers as they pass through its stations in Manchester.

Northern has announced details of the services it will operate for the RMT strike action on Saturday, 15 December and the following two Saturdays.
