One of Northern’s Greater Manchester stations has been transformed thanks to an overhaul of its car park.  

Northern is partnering with Specialist Awareness Services to transform three flagship stations into autism friendly hubs.

To celebrate International Transgender Day of Visibility, Northern is highlighting the stories of two of its transgender colleagues who work for one of the UK’s biggest train operators.   

• Customers asked to plan travel carefully
• Routes to Blackpool, Cumbria, Southport and Hope Valley targeted
• People should minimise travel where possible
• Additional cleaning in place on Northern’s trains and at stations

Work to increase the number of park and ride spaces from approximately 24 unlined spaces to 58 spaces, including three fully accessible and three extra wide spaces, will begin on Monday (29 March).  

Northern is giving community rugby league clubs the chance to win training equipment as well as a grant to boost their facilities.

Northern has completed the initial refurbishment of its train fleet as part of the overall transformation programme being undertaken by the train operator.

Northern is turning to technology to deliver the safest possible rail network for its customers.

To celebrate World Art Day Northern is inviting budding artists to draw, paint, collage or sculpt what Northern (or trains) means to them – and the best entries will get free travel to anywhere on the rail operators' network.  

In just three years – between 2017 and 2020, the number of women working for Northern has increased by 33 per cent and more than 1200 are now employed in a variety of roles across the business.
