Youngsters have a whale of a time during aquarium trip with Northern

A group of 20 young people enjoyed a fun-filled day trip to Maryport Aquarium thanks to Northern.

During the summer holidays, Shackles Off, Northern Station Adopters for Seascale and Sellafield, provide extra trips and activities for their Seascale and Millom youth clubs – and this was one such adventure.

Craig Harrop, regional director at Northern said: “We are happy to be able to support Shackles Off, who do a huge amount of work working with young people in Cumbria – and some of them were able to experience travelling by train for the very first time.

“At Northern, we are proud to be a part of the communities we serve and aim to make a positive impact for the North.”

Northern supplied free travel for the group and the children enjoyed a voyage under the sea and a memorable day together.

Bethany Taylor, senior youth worker at Shackles Off, said: “Our young people got the chance to admire and learn about different kinds of sea life up close. As well as this, the group had hours of fun at the park and mini golf. Thank you to Northern who helped facilitate travel for the trip.”

Northern is the second largest train operator in the country, with nearly 2,000 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
