West Yorkshire resident picks up Inspiration Award for ‘leading the charge’ in digitisation of rail industry

West Yorkshire resident, Keith White, has picked up the Inspiration Award at The Network Computing Awards 2023.

White, who lives in Alwoodley in Leeds, is head of digital experience for the train operator, Northern.

He was voted the winner in a poll by industry peers for his work leading the team that has integrated the Salesforce software throughout the business.

Salesforce is a platform that enables Northern to manage its relationships with its customers. It provides more effective, efficient and personal customer service for those contacting Northern and makes the train operator's marketing communications more relevant to customers who sign-up to receive them.

The Awards are a cross-industry technology recognition scheme run by Network Computing magazine.

Commenting on his success, Keith said: “It was a nice surprise to even be nominated in this category – but to top a poll voted by your peers really is something special.

“I’m very fortunate to have a great team around me at Northern – we get to work on some amazing projects and, whilst there are always challenges in this industry, there’s never been a more exciting time to be working in rail.”

Northern was also shortlisted in the ‘Project of the Year’ category for the roll-out of the Salesforce system, but was pipped to the post by Birmingham City University.

On Sunday 21 May, Northern’s new summer timetable comes into effect and all customers, especially those who have made regular journeys on the same train times, are advised to check before they travel.
