Train operator invites customers to nominate their local heroes on Yorkshire Day
Northern is asking customers to nominate a Yorkshire legend for the chance to win a grand day out.
To celebrate Yorkshire Day (Friday 1 August), the operator is inviting customers to nominate somebody who deserves a proper Northern 'thank you' for the chance to win a day out on the train, and a personal message displayed at their local station.
Whether it's a neighbour who's always there when needed, a friendly face who brings the community together, a tireless fundraiser, or somebody who has made a real difference to lives in their town, Northern wants to hear about the unsung heroes that make Yorkshire great.
Members of the public are invited to nominate their Yorkshire hero on Northern's website at northernrailway.co.uk/offers/competitions, with a message outlining the reasons for their nomination.
The competition opens on Yorkshire Day, Friday 1 August, and runs until Friday 8 August. Winners will be notified by email on 12 August, and 'thank you' messages will appear on screens at ticket vending machines across the Northern network throughout the week.
Winners will also receive a pair of tickets valid for a day's travel anywhere on the Northern network.
Alex Hornby, commercial and customer director for Northern, said: “There’s no shortage of amazing people across Yorkshire who go the extra mile without ever expecting anything in return.
"We love to celebrate the great people across the local communities we are proud to serve. This is our way of giving them a moment in the spotlight and a day out to remember. If you know a Yorkshire hero, we’d love to hear about them.”
Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,650 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
