Students create welcoming artwork at Calder Valley station.

Students have created a spectacular artwork welcoming visitors to one of Northern’s Calder Valley stations.

The new installation at Brighouse station features colourful depictions of local landmarks and landscapes.

The project was carried out by students at Calderdale College and Friends of Brighouse Station with support from Northern.

Tony Baxter, regional director at Northern, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the incredibly talented students whose artwork now has pride-of-place at the station.

“It is such a wonderful welcome for everyone visiting the station.”

On Sunday (21 May), Northern’s new summer timetable came into effect and all customers, especially those who have made regular journeys on the same train times, are advised to check before they travel.

Whilst the overwhelming majority of services remain ‘as is’, the train operator is urging people that make regular trips on the same trains to use the Check My Timetable feature on their website to see details specific to their local station.

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
