Students create colourful artwork to welcome visitors to South Yorkshire station station

College students have designed colourful artwork of their hometown at one of Northern’s South Yorkshire stations.

The artwork is set to be installed at Rotherham station and features scenes of the local area designed by 16 students at nearby Rotherham College.

From disco to industry - each student chose a theme and spent weeks creating a unique view of the town.

These will be displayed in poster cases across the station, welcoming customers and bringing a splash of colour to the platforms.

Kerry Peters, regional director at Northern, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the incredibly talented students whose artwork will be pride-of-place at the station.

“It is such a wonderful welcome for everyone using the railway.”

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
