Northern ready to recongise Hexham's award success
*****MEDIA INVITE*****
Northern is gearing up to celebrate Hexham station's recent success at the National Rail Awards.
Hexham was named Medium Station of the Year and Northern is marking the national recognition with a special event at the station.
The event will take place on Thursday 4 October with a plaque set to be unveiled by Guy Opperman MP.
The award, which was handed earlier this month, recognises the important part Hexham Station plays in the local community and the work carried out by Northern, the Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership and local charity ‘Journey’ to make the station as welcoming as possible for customers.
The ceremony will start at 10:30am and media are invited to attend to take photographs, gather video footage and speak to those involved in the celebration. Media should arrive no later than 10:15am.
Kerry Cross, Head of Trains and Stations for Northern, said: “We are thrilled that Hexham Station has won this fantastic award and the ceremony on Thursday is our way of celebrating and recognising the efforts of everyone involved.”
