Northern issues ‘Do Not Travel’ advice on routes between Carlisle and Haltwhistle this weekend.
Northern is advising customers not to travel on routes between Carlisle and Haltwhistle due to the availability of replacement buses this weekend.
There will be no Northern services between these locations on Saturday 12 November and Sunday 13 November.
Train services have been affected by the recent derailment of a freight train near Carlisle and are not currently running between these stations.
On Sunday 13 November there will also be a limited service between Carlisle and Appleby.
Kerry Peters, regional director at Northern, said: “We apologise for the significant disruption and inconvenience this will cause to our customers.
"There are no replacement buses on these routes, which are not operating due to the derailment of a freight train close to Carlisle.
Despite attempts to recruit buses to replace the train services, unfortunately we have not been able to do so this weekend.
“Therefore, customers are advised not to travel between Haltwhistle, and Carlisle and some other routes may have limited numbers of road replacement transport available.”
A local bus service will be running in the area.
Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, operating nearly 2,000 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
