Hop aboard the Easter Eggs-press! Fun-filled family train returns to the Yorkshire Coast

Train operator Northern and the Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership (YCCRP) are excited to announce the return of the much-loved Easter Special train on Saturday 19 April, with a fun-filled journey for families travelling along the scenic Yorkshire Coast line.

The Easter Bunny and their helpers will be joining the 11:21 service from Hull to Scarborough, spreading seasonal cheer and surprises along the way. The train will call at:

  • Cottingham 11:28
  • Beverley 11:35
  • Driffield 11:47
  • Bridlington 12:02
  • Bempton 12:09
  • Hunmanby 12:19
  • Filey 12:25
  • Seamer 12:35
  • Arriving in Scarborough 12:41

Normal ticket prices apply, and tickets must be bought before boarding the train.

Free crème eggs will be handed out to all children travelling with an adult. Customers who show the Easter Bunny YCCRP’s Traxplorer app on their phone will receive a special code to unlock an exclusive Easter item for their in-app character.

Several special events will also be taking place along the route throughout the day. Bridlington and Filey will be hosting food festivals, and Scarborough’s Old Parcels Office is currently home to an acclaimed sculpture exhibition, located conveniently on the station itself.

Rachel Osborne, YCCRP rail officer, said: “We love doing our Easter specials - they are always such fun and are a great way of encouraging families to use the trains.”

Jessica Clarke, community and sustainability manager for Northern, said: “We’re really proud to support the Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership with this event, which is always a huge hit with families.

“It will be a fun-filled adventure with plenty of chocolate, community spirit and incredible coastal views from the train - we can’t wait to welcome some very happy faces on board.”

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
