History of Haltwhistle under the spotlight in new exhibition
A very special exhibition is now open to visitors at one of Northern’s stations in the north east.
The new display – called Haltwhistle is Something Special - features information about the history and heritage of the area and can be viewed in the waiting room on Platform 1 at Haltwhistle station.
Created by station adopters the Haltwhistle Partnership and other members of the community, the research was carried out by volunteers and residents from the area.
Plans are now underway for the next exhibition, which will focus on local food and is set to be unveiled early next year.
Kerry Peters, regional director at Northern said: “We’re always delighted to support community projects and this display celebrates the history of Haltwhistle. The hard work and creativity that has gone into this project is something for everyone in the community to embrace, enjoy and be proud of.
“The exhibition is open daily – so if you are in Haltwhistle, pop in and learn more about the history of the area.”
Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
